新加坡前總理李光耀今天(23日)凌晨辭世，行政院表示，行政院長毛治國在接獲噩耗後，深感震驚與哀痛，已立即請我國駐新加坡代表處大使謝發達致函新加坡總理李顯龍，轉達毛治國誠摯哀悼與慰問之意。
行政院表示，自新加坡1965年建國以來，李光耀在促進台星兩國關係發展扮演著關鍵的領導角色，他同時也致力於促進兩岸交流，更是1993年3月在新加坡第一次召開「辜汪會談」的重要推手，「辜汪會談」的舉行也開啟了兩岸日後持續和平對話與穩定的交流。
行政院指出，李光耀是新加坡建國總理，更是一位高瞻遠矚的世界級領袖，李光耀生平樸實無華、律己甚嚴，為新加坡立下良好典範。李光耀溘然辭世，新加坡舉國哀悼，無不感念其高尚風範，國際社會因此失去一名智者，我國更失去了一位摯友，中華民國政府與人民將永遠感念李光耀在促進新加坡與我國關係及兩岸和平的貢獻。
